It is the mission of Slyy Foxx Media to educate workers around the United States on the benefits of organizing and joining a union. In 2023, the United Auto Worker’s secured a 25% increase in salaries for autoworkers against GM, Ford, and Stellantis.
The following workers’ for automakers including Tesla, BMW, Honda, Hyundai, Mazada, Toyota, and Volkswagen do not have unions. It is these companies that Slyy Foxx Media will help get deeper into their finances to show the workers how much more billions the shareholders get than the people actually making the cars. And if those automaker shareholders do not want to disclose their financials we will ask why? And show what other CEO’s or shareholders in the same position got as a bonus.
- GM CEO Mary Barra’s total compensation was $27.8 million in 2023 with a base salary of $2.1 million.
- Honda’s CEO Toshihiro Mibe’s base salary was $2.3 million in 2022. No information disclosed on total compensation.

It is important to understand not only who the CEOs are of the companies but who are also the shareholders behind the scenes. Take Honda for instance, some of their Major Institutional Holders are Dodge & Cox, Fisher Assest Management, and Morgan Stanley just to name a few.

With all the talk of waste, fraud, and abuse going on in America today, it’s important to note that a lot of that waste, fraud, and abuse comes from the highest levels of leadership with organizations. Manager’s employing unfair Labor Practices by punishing subordinates while they themselves break rules. Yes, companies set up HR departments and ethics and compliance hotlines but a lot of those departments work and have the companies best interest in mind. So while trying to help the employee the department is also trying to prevent damage to companies reputation.
The Right to Organize and Join a Union was established under The National Labor Relations Act of 1935 to guarantee workers the full freedom of association to organize into unions to engage in collective bargaining with employers. The NLRA protects employees’ against employer retaliation so that workers can pursue and engage in union activities. Although you are legally protected to talk about a union be cautious in the beginning of the process and document everything management does that seems to impede your desire.
Who Can Join A Union? Green Card Holders And Temporary Workers have the same fundamental rights as permanent employees in relation to joining a union and being at the table in the collective bargaining process and can participate and help organize and be a union representative for any group of workers/employees within a specific organization.
Maybe you’re an individual who delivers parts for a company to workers within a parent company. You have the right to form a union against your employer/company. Temporary workers can take full benefit of joining a union and can play a vital role in creating and securing their place within an organization. Everyone that does the same work gets compensated the same and access to the same benefits and time off.
Unions help employees against states that have at-will employment laws, which allow for employers to terminate the employment relationship for any reason at any time as long as it does not violate your rights. Discrimination based on race, disability, and, age. Or retaliation for pursuing any of your other protected rights.
The following types of employees are typically excluded from bargaining unit representation.
- Supervisors.
- Management Officials
- Confidential employees
- Independent Contractors
- Agricultural Workers
- Domestic workers
- Anyone employed by a parent or spouse.
How to get a Union started within your company?
- Talk to coworkers about things that you believe your company can do better for employees
- Get support contacting the United Auto Worker’s Union to sign union cards or petitions with other employees.
- Contact a union organizer to help guide you through the process. To protect you from management tactics to prevent the formation.
- If at least 30% of any group within a company signs the petition the National Labor Relations Board (nlrb.gov) will hold an election.
- Once an election is passed the company must recognize the Union and go to the negotiating table with you. An organization can also recognize your union without an election.
Union workers can negotiate the following terms through a collective bargaining agreement.
- Extra protection against being fired without cause.
- Higher wages. More access to revenue sharing. Understand a company’s net profit after employees are paid!
- The best Health care to cover you and your loved ones.
- Pensions combined with 401k
- Compensation for skill set as opposed to pay based on tiered structure. Be paid what your worth ASAP!
- Fight for the right to only work 32-40 hour work weeks, 10 hour days with higher hourly pay!
- Fight to work holidays at triple pay! Fight not to work any holidays! You decide!
- Have a union representative with your best intentions to face any disciplinary infractions.
- Non-Union members may be required to pay a fair share fee or agency fee or the union could waive any such fees.
In a Union you can fight for changes in procedures to hiring or who works with your company. Why should you have to watch an incompetent manager year in and year out get paid top dollar to mess things up while sitting around doing nothing? You shouldn’t. If you have the talent you should not be passed over a position based on your seniority. That’s why quality lacks in a lot of areas within organizations. Top level leadership only cares about the bottom dollar. A union can also ensure that you are not passed up on these kinds of promotions.
